1. Over-lighting
Having too much power in the points of light to achieve more intensity than necessary can be very annoying, and is in fact a mistake as serious in the interior lighting of homes as having insufficient light in a space.

To avoid this, the most advisable is to put more and softer light points, so that we can use light only where it is needed. In case they are wall sconces, they should also be of indirect light to avoid any discomfort or glare.

2. Not planning the lighting well
If you want to avoid any kind of mistake when it comes to lighting, you can never miss a detailed planning of it. To make a previous study before placing the light points is undoubtedly the best way to guarantee the success of the interior lighting of houses.

3.  Place spot lighting over the pillow area.
Adding spot lighting on the bed, and specifically on the ceiling or wall, over the pillow area is not highly recommended, as it tends to cause glare and discomfort. In this way, the light only hits the eyes directly.

To avoid this failure in the interior lighting of homes, remember that the bedroom area should be a place of relaxation and tranquility where indirect light should be the protagonist.

4.  Placing lighting too close to a ceiling fan
Placing luminaires in the area of action of the fan blades creates a stroboscopic effect in the room that is too strong and inappropriate. Precisely for this reason, the use of ceiling fans should also be foreseen in the study and planning of the interior lighting of homes, do not forget this point!

5.  Using cold light for everything
It is a common mistake to think that warm light, because it is warm, provides less luminosity than cold light. It is not a question of intensity but of the adequacy of the light.

While cold light is necessary for some points, in other areas it can be unpleasant and not suitable at all. Cold light is suitable in areas where we need to perform more intense activities such as kitchen work or in the bathroom mirror area. On the other hand, warm light is ideal for rest areas, meetings and more relaxed areas in general.

6.  Planning only one light point in each room
Another of the big mistakes in the interior lighting of houses is to use a single point of light in each room with a lot of power and intensity. The most appropriate thing, instead, is to distribute the light throughout the house and combine the different types of lighting according to the use of each area. In this way we guarantee that the most appropriate light is available at all times.

7.  Use a tabletop general light for reading.
This type of general light is not efficient for reading and can cause visual fatigue. Instead, it is advisable to use a luminaire that is specifically designed for reading and can be directed. This applies to reading light in the bedroom as well as in the sofa area.

8.  Not illuminating cabinets
Although it may be overlooked, the lighting of the cabinets is a way to achieve elegance and functionality in the same space. Having light inside the closets is certainly something you can not do without once you have tried it, since the luminosity that is achieved makes it much easier to look for any garment or object.

9.  Use the same lighting for all outdoor areas.
Not all outdoor areas are exposed to the same conditions, neither to rain nor to wind, and therefore, not all luminaires need the same IP. That is, each outdoor area requires a different protection rating depending on how it is exposed to environmental effects. In addition, each IP has a specific installation, so it is best to consult professionals about where they should be installed and how.

10.  Using only indirect light in the bathroom mirror
Although using indirect LED strips behind the bathroom mirror can create an attractive effect, it is a big mistake to use this light as the only one in that area, since it is a place where, depending on the time of day, a higher intensity may be necessary.

In that sense, it is best to use frontal light to avoid shadows and lack of luminosity.

11.  Not having dimmable luminaires
Using dimmable luminaires is the best way to achieve a reduction in energy consumption and greater efficiency in its use in terms of electricity and lighting. In addition, these types of luminaires make controlling and dimming the light easier and more convenient than ever.

This option is already one of the favorites in interior lighting of homes to achieve the best lighting comfort at all times.
