Gastrosense: a project on neuroarchitecture and innovation in restaurants

26 Abr 2024

Faro Barcelona is participating in the GastroSense project, an initiative coordinated by the AMBIT cluster and funded by the Innovative Business Groups (AEI) Program of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism. This represents an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to improving the gastronomic experience through the use of neuroarchitecture and artificial intelligence.

This project has involved various entities such as CETT-UB, Bassols, Goli Neuromarketing, and ELISAVA, along with collaboration with the design studio Somos Nido and the Rethink Tourism Cluster.

GastroSense: Innovation and Collaboration

The GastroSense project recently held its final day, where the results of months of research and collaboration were presented. Faro Barcelona has highlighted the role of lighting as a creator of environments that significantly enhance the experience in gastronomic spaces.

From the start, the project focused on establishing clear connections between the perception, emotional response, and behavior of diners. This was achieved not only through spatial design but also through the integration of interior design products in real projects, such as the Summum restaurant at the Hotel Alimara.

Technology and Neuroarchitecture

An essential part of the project was the adaptation of neurotechnologies to measure human response in the gastronomic space. These technologies have allowed us to better understand how our products can influence and enhance the multisensory experience of users, both customers and staff.

The project also addressed the characterization of physical-environmental parameters that most influence the gastronomic experience, using advanced tools to measure these parameters.

Contributions and Perspectives

During the final day, Daniel Puga, technical director of Faro Barcelona, along with other project leaders, discussed how the customization of our lighting solutions has been fundamental to the project's success. Nathalia Buitrago, from Bassols, and other collaborators emphasized the importance of personalized intervention that directly responds to the needs of the space and its users.

The day concluded with an enriching round table discussion, where ideas were exchanged about the impact of evidence-based design on the workflows of design studios and manufacturers. This dialogue opened new avenues for future collaborations and projects that continue to focus on user well-being through a more humanistic and user-centered approach.

The GastroSense project has been a testament to the power of interdisciplinary collaboration and user-centered innovation, elements that are deeply ingrained in our mission at Faro Barcelona.

We will continue working to ensure our products not only illuminate spaces but also enhance the experiences and lives of those who interact with them.

We hope to continue leading the way in integrating technology and design for human well-being.
