The renovation of our Renovacion Faro Quality Lab reduces water consumption by 25,000 liters per year

At Faro Barcelona, we perform all the measurements of our products to ensure the highest quality.

On this occasion, we have renewed the equipment used to carry out ingress protection (IP) tests. The IPX3, IPX4, IPX5, and IPX6 tests, which measure the degree of protection of a product against water ingress, now feature more precise and efficient technology, allowing us to test in a more sustainable way.

The main benefit is a considerable reduction in water consumption, achieved through a system that reuses water via pumping and filtering. This advancement allows us to save more than 26,000 liters of water per year, a key figure in our commitment to sustainability.

What improvements have been made?

One of the main improvements was the incorporation of a new-generation equipment to carry out the Water Spray Test, for the IPX3 and IPX4 tests, which simulate rain on the product in a very precise way.

The water used during these tests is not wasted but stored and pumped back into the circuit when needed. This way, it is constantly reused without loss. The system incorporates filters and a counter that measures the savings, which is estimated at over 25,000 liters of water per year.

Another key improvement is the addition of a new custom-designed technology to carry out the pressure-water tests for the IPX5 and IPX6, known as the Water Jet Test. This machine allows testing the product while it is powered on, with a rotating table that facilitates checking the ingress protection from all angles. The system also reuses 100% of the water used, integrating with the lab's previously mentioned recycling systems.

In addition, this update has not only involved investment in new technologies. We have also optimized the use of existing resources: compressors, water pumps, and systems already in place. An intelligent way to improve without waste.

This project represents a further step in our commitment to offering maximum-quality products, reducing environmental impact, and raising the standards of our testing.
