Faro Barcelona, at the Madrid Design Festival 2025

20 Feb 2025

This year, light is the main protagonist of the Madrid Design Festival 2025, and Faro Barcelona will be present in three of its most remarkable exhibitions. We will take part in La Línea Sueña, the festival’s main exhibition at the Teatro Fernán Gómez; +Ke Luz, an ephemeral installation that invites reflection on lighting in space; and El Viaje Entremedias, an exhibition celebrating the 25-year career of designer Héctor Serrano, winner of the National Design Award. In these three settings, we will showcase our collection Tierra, Mar and Aire, a project that explores the connection between light and natural elements.

La Línea Sueña: light as a form of expression

La Línea Sueña is the first monographic exhibition of the festival dedicated to exploring the relationship between light and space. This exhibition features the work of 45 creators who share a design philosophy closely linked to architecture and landscape, with a unique vision of light where technical and metaphorical elements run in parallel.

For this edition, we are presenting Tierra, Mar y Aire, a collection designed by Héctor Serrano that focuses on sustainability and innovation through 3D printing. Like many of the featured works, our pieces explore light as an element capable of transforming spaces and emotions.

La Línea Sueña can be visited until April 20 at the Teatro Fernán Gómez in Madrid.

+Ke LUZ, an ephemeral and emotional gallery

Created by Teresa Herrero and Ciuco Gutiérrez, +Ke-Luz is an ephemeral installation that brings together lamp designs by various creators in an unusual setting: a construction materials warehouse in the Bellas Vistas neighborhood of Madrid. Its goal is to create a contrast between the sculptural nature of the designs and the rawness of the space, juxtaposing light with unrefined materials.

Beyond this visual contrast, the installation seeks to highlight the space itself, a place of transition where materials await their transformation into desired finishes. It serves as a metaphor for design and art as agents of change and new perspectives. In this context, the exhibition will feature our Tierra collection, designed by Héctor Serrano, National Design Award 2024.

+Ke LUZ will be open only on February 22 and 23.

El Viaje Entremedias, the creative universe of Héctor Serrano

The exhibition El Viaje Entremedias explores the career of Héctor Serrano, showcasing nearly one hundred of his most emblematic works. Through this selection, the designer opens a window into the many creative paths he has pursued throughout his career.

Among the featured pieces are his collaborations with Faro Barcelona, such as the Tierra, Mar y Aire collection, an homage to nature that embraces circularity and 3D printing as a sustainable production method. Also on display will be the Isabelle lamps and the Amelia collection, which includes its ceiling fan version.

Additionally, the exhibition hosts the solidarity project Raíces, an initiative to raise funds for those affected by the DANA storm that devastated 85 municipalities in Valencia last October. Serrano has transformed 85 roots found on the beach into vases, designed to hold plants or cuttings that will later be transplanted into the soil. Each vase represents one of the affected localities, with the goal of supporting reconstruction efforts and helping people regain their roots.

El Viaje Entremedias will be open from February 27 to March 30 at Central de Diseño, Matadero in Madrid.
