Barcelona dresses in red for research at the People in Red gala 2026

26 May 2026

This May, the People in Red Barcelona Charity Gala once again proves that solidarity can become a driving force for research, culture and the city.

The People in Red 2026 gala, more supportive than ever

Last May 11th, the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya hosted the 16th edition of People in Red Barcelona, now established as one of the leading international charity events linked to infectious disease research. A night where science and commitment came together to keep driving forward the clinical research led by Dr Bonaventura Clotet’s Fight Infections Foundation.

Hosted by Sílvia Abril and Toni Acosta, with a script by El Terrat, the gala blended humour, music and emotion in a dynamic and approachable setting. Joan Dausà and Amaral delivered some of the evening’s most memorable moments, while DJ Genna and Fede Sardà kept the celebration moving alongside guests from the worlds of culture, science, sport and business.

The gastronomic experience designed by Nandu Jubany and the Jubany Events team once again became one of the highlights of the evening. This edition also marked the launch of the People in Red Barcelona Solidarity Award, a new initiative created to recognise careers committed to community health and social awareness. In its first edition, the award — a piece by Jaume Plensa — was presented to Eduardo Casanova for helping break stigmas through his artistic vision.

Beyond the event itself, the gala’s real impact can be measured in figures that will help research continue moving forward. Thanks to the involvement of attendees, collaborators and participating companies, People in Red Barcelona 2026 raised a total of €838,769, including €60,965 collected through the Solidarity Raffle.

At Faro Barcelona, we wanted to contribute our small part by collaborating in this solidarity initiative through the donation of two lighting pieces from our Muna collection for the charity raffle held during the gala. A way to support a project focused on one of today’s and tomorrow’s major global challenges: research into infectious diseases and the new health threats linked to factors such as antibiotic resistance, globalisation and climate change.

People in Red Barcelona continues to grow year after year, becoming far more than a charity gala. A space where research, creativity and collective commitment find ways to move forward together.
