Faro Barcelona joins the People in Red Gala for a solidarity cause

15 May 2025

There are events that shine not just for their glamour, but for their ability to change the world. The People in Red Gala, organized by the Foundation for the Fight against Infections, is one of them. A solidarity event that brings together personalities, companies, and citizens each year, all committed to medical research and the fight against HIV. And this year, at Faro Barcelona, we had the honor of being part of this special night, bringing light and purpose-driven design.

What is the People in Red Gala?

The story of this gala begins in 1992 with the creation of the Foundation for the Fight against AIDS, led by Dr. Bonaventura Clotet. What started as a response to the HIV pandemic has evolved into a broader research platform through the Foundation for the Fight against Infections.

This organization focuses on six main areas: HIV, Covid-19, sexually transmitted infections, global health, severe bacterial infections, and infections in immunocompromised patients. Its approach is integrated and pioneering, combining basic science and clinical trials within the same center. The People in Red Gala is one of the main sources of funding to continue this essential work.

This year's edition was hosted by the charismatic duo Andreu Buenafuente and Silvia Abril, and featured many familiar faces who enjoyed an exquisite dinner with a live performance by Rigoberta Bandini.

Afterwards, guests took part in the much-anticipated solidarity raffle. Luxury items, exclusive pieces, and characterful objects took center stage in this very special part of the night. All set in a magical environment: the Oval Room of the National Art Museum of Catalonia.

Bela and Cata: design with purpose

At Faro Barcelona, we wanted to contribute with two pieces that represent us: the Bela lamp, in a vibrant red as a nod to the event, and the Cata lamp, designed by Marina Milá, which brings delicacy, simplicity, and warmth to the mix. Both lamps were raffled during the gala, offering the perfect balance between aesthetics, functionality, and commitment.

Being part of the People in Red Gala was our way of contributing through what we do best: creating light with meaning. Because we believe in honest, approachable, and accessible design. A design that connects with people, that inspires, and that can also help build a healthier future for everyone.
