The second cycle of #BRIGHTalks took place in our Princesa showroom last Thursday 27th April: 'Hotels that inspire'. In it, Pepa Casado, founder of Futurea; Natali Canas, co-founder of El Equipo Creativo; and Ana López, Hospitality Manager at Faro Barcelona, were able to chat with more than fifty professionals who attended the meeting, about how sustainability and inspiring design (new trends) are revolutionising the hotel industry. A space for dialogue about the new ones of tomorrow.

Here are the most interesting conclusions we drew from the meeting.
A hotel connected to the destination and its community
The talk discussed the changes in the hotel industry, which have led to a greater openness and connection with the local culture. "Hotels now seek to reflect the idiosyncrasies of their location through thoughtful, design-led interior design, offering not only their traditional services but also as a gallery, shop and restaurant, inviting people to spend time and enjoy the space," said Natali Canas. In addition, as Ana López explained, "local identity has become important, but without losing the global connection, creating products for hotels that speak of their origin and at the same time connect with people from all over the world".

Hotels' path to sustainability
While sustainability was highlighted as a relevant issue during the pandemic, there is a current need for this discourse to be maintained and integrated in hotels. Natali Canas believes that "Helping to make this discourse permeate and integrate it organically into the space is something we need to continue to work towards".
On the other hand, Ana López believes that "more and more sustainable criteria are being introduced, but it is important that all the agents involved in the design of hotels assume their responsibilities". Emphasis was placed on how Faro Barcelona is an example of this by working to reduce the consumption of raw materials and energy throughout the life cycle of its products.

Bleisure, the new opportunity for hotels
The impact of teleworking, according to Natali Canas, "has been the perfect excuse for hotels to host other activities, encouraging locals to meet in their space and generate new synergies". "Spaces are becoming more and more versatile, but from a design-integrated point of view," adds Ana López. An opportunity for hotels to adapt to new forms of work and leisure, offering more versatile spaces adapted to create unique and enriching experiences for users.
