This year 2022 in Faro Barcelona we are celebrating! We celebrate 75 years full of light.
Since our beginnings we have been a conscious and inspiring brand. We believe in the power of illusion and enthusiasm to keep moving forward, enjoying the process and radiating light around us. Do you want to know how our trajectory has been?
1940, our beginnings with a battery
Carlos López, a tenacious man from a humble family, goes into business selling Jupiter brand batteries in a shop of just 10 m2 in 1940s Barcelona.

1946, from the battery business to the commercialisation of flexos
To help a great friend who was a specialist in the assembly of these desk lamps, the battery business was complemented with the commercialisation of flexos, photographing them himself and travelling around Spain to sell them. This proved to be a great success, becoming the company's main source of income.

In the 1950s, LOREFAR was born from the great success of the sale of flexos.
In 1951, thanks to the success of the sale of flexos, LOREFAR was founded. The name of the family business is formed by the letters of his surname López, his wife's surname Orejudo and the word FARO.

The 1970s, from father to son
In the 1970s, the youngest son of the family, Carlos López Orejudo, joined the business with his father's best advice: "Undertake with courage and never give up".
The 1980s, taking risks in difficult times
At a difficult time worldwide and with a major Spanish crisis, the business suffered a severe recession.
Despite this, Carlos Lopez Orejudo boarded a plane to Hong Kong with the aim of reviving the business by expanding the range of products on offer.
This is how Faro also becomes the first importer of ceiling fans in Spain. In this new phase, the company continues to grow and becomes the benchmark for lighting and ventilation in the country.

1991 first exports to the French market
Carlos Martí, a close friend of Carlos Lopez Orejudo, joins Faro as General Manager and starts the first exports to the French market with resounding success.
It was at this time that the company moved to a 1,200m2 building in Santa Eulalia and increased its workforce to 12 employees.
Unfortunately, Carlos Martí passed away and Xavier Martín Conillas joined Faro as General Manager.

2000s, change in business direction
In the 2000s, Xavi Martín set in motion a major change in the direction of the business in order to differentiate the brand. His vision was to evolve from importers to designers of his own models, placing value on creativity and design quality. It was at this time that international expansion was also boosted, with the first exports to Italy and other European countries.
2007 professionalisation of the company
In 2007, the company took the opportunity to professionalise. The move to an industrial building with more than 10,000m2 of warehouse space and more than 2,000m2 of offices and showroom in Castellbisbal became the ideal environment for its new phase. Its team is made up of more than 60 professionals from different areas.
The year 2011 saw the purchase of one of the most emblematic and traditional lighting brands in Catalonia, BioscaBotey, allowing Faro Barcelona to get closer to the end public and create synergies that expand and improve its business.

2015 reinventing itself to continue growing
Faro Barcelona is undergoing such a significant evolution and growth that the brand itself is asking to reinvent itself. The new image seeks to better express the current identity: dynamism, freshness, proximity, creativity and well-being.
