Masia Mateu de l’Agustí, a sustainable rural refuge

La Masia Mateu de l’Agustí, built in 1882 and located in a privileged environment an hour from Lleida, has been reborn thanks to the initiative of the great-granddaughter of the original couple along with her daughter. An ambitious rehabilitation project carried out by Espais amb arquitectura, with styling and decoration by Mar Gausachs and photography by Maria Pujol

The transformation of this masia into a rural accommodation has kept the essence of its family history alive, combining it with a modern and sustainable approach.

Conservation and Sustainability

From the beginning of the rehabilitation, one of the main objectives was to preserve the original stone wall, a central and distinctive element of the house. The goal was to maintain the rustic essence that made the house a home.

The rehabilitation also focused on sustainability, fully integrating the accommodation into its natural environment. Thanks to effective thermal insulation and the use of renewable energies such as aerothermal heating and solar panels, the masia not only respects the environment but also facilitates significant energy savings.

Cozy and Stylish Spaces

The ground floor of the masia is characterized by a large open space that combines kitchen, dining room, and living room. At the entrance, the original stone wall welcomes visitors, while the natural oak parquet flooring and treated solid oak staircase add warmth and elegance. In the dining room, Costas lamps, with rattan shades, provide an organic and warm touch, perfectly complementing the cozy atmosphere of the space.

The styling of the house has been carefully designed to create a welcoming and harmonious atmosphere with the rustic environment. In the bedrooms, Sumba wall lamps, also with rattan shades, provide warm ambient lighting, ideal for creating a relaxing atmosphere. Combined with biodegradable cotton sheets in white, along with earth-toned plaids and cushions, these wall lamps generate an unparalleled sense of warmth and comfort.

The combination of traditional elements with modern and sustainable details makes the Masia Mateu de l’Agustí a perfect example of how respect for history and commitment to the environment can coexist in perfect harmony.
