Axel Hotels opens a new boutique hotel in Valencia. This time, the chosen setting is a 17th-century building located in the heart of the El Carmen neighborhood. A historic spot that now embraces the Axel philosophy fused with the Mediterranean essence of the city.

The hotel’s design breathes authenticity. It doesn’t hide its past as a nightclub in the '70s or its squatted stage in the '90s. Today, it’s reborn as a diverse, safe, and provocative space. Cosmopolitan, open to the city, designed to be lived in with freedom and respect.

The hotel features 72 rooms, with interiors offering a contemporary take on Mediterranean character—perfectly in tune with today’s Valencia: bright and serene.

The rooms combine warm and honest materials, like exposed wood beams on the ceiling, with neutral, well-balanced surfaces. Earth-toned walls blend with light flooring to create a cozy atmosphere that doesn’t feel rustic. The standout feature is the decorative ceramic headboard, adding an artisan and local touch, bringing identity and texture without overwhelming the space.

The open layout removes visual barriers between the bedroom, work area, and bathroom, enhancing the feeling of space and comfort. The furniture, with clean and functional lines, adds lightness and supports practical use of the room.

Our Academy collection can be found in every room: a family of luminaires with a discreet, contemporary design that provides warm, well-controlled, and functional light. Academy adapts to every purpose through its various versions: wall-mounted on either side of the bed—adjustable for added comfort and reading moments; a table lamp for the work area; and a floor lamp to create a soft ambient glow. Lighting helps shape a cozy and calming experience.

The hotel has already opened its doors in Valencia, adding a new chapter to the Axel Hotels expansion. More than just a hotel chain, Axel is a way of seeing the world: safe spaces where differences are respected and celebrated.
