An innovative pharmacy in Astillero, by Maaf Estudio

Maaf Studio presents its new pharmacy project in Astillero, a 164m² project that intelligently utilises the irregular configuration of a former bank branch to create a warm yet functional environment.

Materiality and Comfortable Environments

Maaf Studio has chosen materials that break with the traditional concept of a pharmacy. The walls clad in clay mortar and the suspended wooden slat ceiling bring warmth and comfort, essential elements in an industrialised setting. Additionally, the niches with display surfaces and custom furniture modules are seamlessly integrated into the design, creating a functional and welcoming space.

Lighting: A Key Factor

The lighting has been carefully designed to meet the specific needs of each area of the pharmacy. We have used our Fost track lighting, which allows for the incorporation of both projectors and pendant lamps. This versatility is crucial to achieve perfect lighting that highlights the products while also creating a comfortable working environment.

The LED strips installed in the niches illuminate the products on the shelves, enhancing their presence and making them easier for customers to see. This solution is not only functional but also adds a modern and elegant touch to the interior design.

Another notable lighting fixture in the project is our Tond, usually used outdoors. In this case, it has been incorporated inside the pharmacy to take advantage of its ability to illuminate both upwards and downwards. This dual function is ideal for simultaneously lighting signage and products, ensuring every detail is perfectly visible and highlighted.

Maximising Space and Natural Light

The large windows that were part of the bank branch have been retained, allowing natural light to flood the interior of the pharmacy. This direct contact with the outside not only improves the natural lighting of the space but also creates a visual connection with the urban environment, inviting passers-by to enter.

The Astillero Pharmacy project by Maaf Studio is a clear example of how lighting can transform a space. Through the intelligent use of natural and artificial light, an environment has been created that is not only functional and efficient but also welcoming and attractive.
