How to stay cool in summer

Tips for choosing your ceiling fan

This summer, our proposal is for you to experience wellbeing in every corner of your home. You can go out and have fun and when you come home, be comfortable and not too hot. How can you achieve this? By choosing the ideal ceiling fan for each space and need::

It is very important to know where we want to install the fan. For safety reasons, there must be a minimum height of 2.3 m from the floor to the blades and for heights over 2.8 m, shank extensions must be used. At the same time, there must be a minimum of one metre between the fan and the next object (such as furniture). If it is a sloping ceiling, you need to look for fans that are suitable (you will find one in our catalogue) and respect the maximum angle of 20º.

According to the size of the bedroom the diameter of the fan has to be:

The number of blades directly influences how much breeze is generated: fewer blades, more air. Furthermore, some fans change the direction of movement of the blades, which include the reverse function to improve the heating system in winter.

Regarding material, it is important to know:

Each space requires an appropriate range of fan rotation speeds. For the bedroom or office, a low speed of 50-100 rpm is better, since it cools down, but does not disturb, and for large spaces such as the dining room or a business with a room, a maximum rotation speed of 200-300 rpm is be better, since aside from cooling down, it will disperse smoke and odours.

The type of motor determines the consumption and the characteristics of the effect of the fan. They can have an AC (alternate current) motor or DC (direct current) motor. The former, more common, heat up much more, while the later are low consumption, more silent and capable of operating at very low speeds.

To assess consumption, it should also be taken into account whether they have light incorporated, whether they are compatible with a kit or whether they are not suitable. Indeed, the main function of a fan is to regulate the climate, so the intensity of the light it provides will be discrete.

There are three ways to control a fan: CHAIN, REMOTE CONTROL AND WALL REGULATOR, each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages.
