We attended the 37th edition of the Delta Awardsat the Design Hub, which takes place within the FADfest.Fifty-three selected participants were competing to get one of the coveted Gold or Silver Delta awards; AKANE was among the selected candidates, with Pepe Llaudet's design.
Not only the winners but also two speeches were the highlights of the night. One of them, made by the head of ADI-FAD, the association responsible for organizing the Delta Awards , revealed that the prizes will become biennial once more. So we will have to wait until 2016 for the next event. The comments of the president of the international jury didn’t go unnoticed by the attendees either. Inga Sempè urged both design schools and businesses to invest in design and innovation, without forgetting about the functionality of products.
The ceremony of the Delta14 Awards began at 9 pm at the Disseny Hub after the reception. The person in charge of the ceremony was presenter Oscar Dalmau, who also amused the guests with his humour. A brief overview of all selected candidates was followed by the chairman of the FAD, Nani Marquina, explaining the origin of the awards and focusing on the success of this ceremony. First it was the turn of the ADI medals, recognition prizes given to students and then there was the presentation of the Delta Awards. Each member of the jury gave out a prize, starting with the Award given for opinion and continuing with five Delta Silver awards; finishing by announcing the winner, the Trick illumination design by iGuzzini. Congratulations to all!
