Wood, a touch of warmth in home lighting

09 Nov 2016

Wood is one of the most predominant materials in home decoration given its endless possibilities. Chairs, tables, shelves or closets are just a few of the elements that capture its warmth. Home lighting could not be the exception.

In a set of designer lamps, white fabric shades are a certain hit; but if we added wood, success would be guaranteed. Thus, FUSTA is born; a family of designer lamps created by Álex&Manel Lluscà, which reimagines the classic line of interior lighting in order to create pieces that stand out because of the details and the beauty of their finish. A pure-line design that will surely add warmth to home lighting.

If we replaced fabric with metal, the result would have a more industrial touch. This is the concept behind MIX, where the light escapes through slits in metallic shades. The light effect achieved when combined with wooden parts brings a very cozy feel to interior lighting. MIX is a perfect design both for homes as well as for the illumination of contract spaces where one would like to play a bit with their lighting and their finishes and textures.

However, if in any of our designs wood had special relevance, it would be in our latest two. MINE features a structure formed by three wooden turned legs that support a metallic base and its large diffuser. The warmth of the wood creates a contrast with the opal crystal and gives the ensemble a very Nordic style. These lamps designed by Nahtrang are truly versatile and fit any style.

1968 is the year of the revolution, of the space race, a very meaningful year for television and it is also the name of one of our designs. It is a lamp completely manufactured in Spain that combines tradition and modernity: the wood is handcrafter by carpenters, the logo is engraved by laser, the supports are 3D printed at Faro Barcelona’s facilities and the linen shade is made in Mataró. In the words of its creator, Jordi Busquets, “its shape evokes nostalgia and its warmness reminds us of home, a fact that makes it a timeless piece, perfect for elegant rooms and hotels”.
