How to light a hotel room?

Hotel room lighting should aim to make guests feel as comfortable as in their own homes. To achieve this comfort, it is necessary to take into account that rooms can be used for activities other than sleeping, such as working or spending time. Precisely for this reason, hotel room lighting has to be designed for the use that is going to be given to each part of the room.

When it comes to general lighting, it is advisable to avoid direct light points on the ceiling. Instead, using LED strips with indirect light can give a much more welcoming result. These strips can also be the perfect option to illuminate the inside of cabinets with direct light and create an elegant and original effect.

Using sconces on the sides of the bed is also one of our favorite forms of hotel room lighting, as the light obtained is warm and pleasant and the durability of the sconces is much greater than table or pendant luminaires, a factor of great importance if we consider the constant maintenance of a hotel.

One of the most important parts of hotel room lighting is undoubtedly the reading light. This light must be punctual so as not to disturb the other person and must be able to be oriented to adapt to the posture of the guest at the moment of reading. In the case of the desk, a decorative tabletop luminaire can be a good option as long as it provides sufficient light.

When planning hotel room lighting, it is also necessary to put yourself in the role of the guests. In this sense, a hotel is nobody's home, so finding the light switches at specific times can be complicated and uncomfortable.

Precisely for this reason, placing short-range light sensors with a signal light that turns on when you put your feet on the floor is undoubtedly the best way to guarantee and facilitate minimum visibility at times like night.

Bathroom

Although the most important aspect of hotel room lighting is the room itself, the bathrooms also play a key role in the guest experience. In this case, issues such as color temperature must be taken into account, as well as the types of luminaires and their locations.

The color temperature should be homogeneous throughout the space, and in points such as the mirror, it is advisable that the light hits the face from both sides to avoid shadows. In this regard, overhead light from the ceiling should be avoided. And, although the sink is partly illuminated by the lights from the mirror, including an accent light that gives it its own prominence can add a very original touch to the bathroom design.

When we talk about the shower, the most important thing is to have comfortable light that allows relaxation without dazzling, but being able to clearly see the hygiene products. One option is to use IP65 LED strips in soap niches and ceiling recesses to achieve the perfect lighting in this area. In addition, IP65 is very suitable for showers, and is protected against moisture.

The bathroom in a room also says a lot about the hotel, its style, elegance and attention to detail, so with good lighting it is easy to win over guests.

Dressing room

Dressing rooms are a part of hotel rooms where lighting can completely transform the guests' perception.

In rooms with custom dressing rooms, LED profiles are the best option to ensure good visibility, as they provide enough light without glare, but also serve to create an original, personalized and elegant effect.

Function: the importance of hotel room lighting

As we mentioned, hotel rooms are somewhat multipurpose spaces where people can go for various reasons. In this sense, lighting is important not only for its contribution to the aesthetic result but also for its role in creating a peaceful atmosphere.

One of the things that guests value most is silence, and there is no better way to promote silence than by creating an atmosphere of relaxation and tranquility.

In the same way, lighting in hotel rooms is essential to act as signage. It is important to think that guests may never have been in that space, so having a light to guide them both in the room and in the corridors is the key to greater comfort. Luminaires such as Plas, Signal or Nase are ideal for this type of lighting.

Intelligent control or domotics

Controlling the lighting in hotel rooms is no longer a complex task, thanks to lighting control systems.

These systems make it possible to control and regulate the lighting of the entire space, considerably reducing energy expenditure and making use of light when necessary.

In addition, this makes it possible to automate the lighting, so that achieving the perfect light at every point is not a complex task, but rather something you no longer need to worry about.

In this sense, using home automation or intelligent control systems for hotel room lighting is undoubtedly the key to greater comfort, a better user experience, and total comfort.
